Christian Dior SE, commonly known as Dior, is all set to unveil its Cruise 2024 collection in Mexico City on May 20. The location of the event hasn’t been disclosed yet, but it will soon be disclosed as per the sources. The French multinational fashion house is famous for its unique Women’s clothing wear.
For this annual collection of Dior, the artistic director for women’s wear Maria Grazia Chiuri will follow the tradition of collaborating with local artisans and craftspeople to celebrate their culture. This tradition will further boost the tourism revenues in its destination. This year’s cruise collection is a tribute to the vast and rich cultural heritage of Mexico.
The tradition of collaborating with local craftspeople will highlight the artistry and some of the emblematic figures of this country that have been a significant part of Dior since the establishment of this fashion house in 1947.
Recently, the historic Gateway of India monument has experienced a pre-fall collection presentation of Dior. This was the first-ever seasonal fashion show hosted in India. The historic show marked the collaboration between Maria Karishma Swali (artistic director of the Chanakya ateliers and the nonprofit Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai) and Grazia Chiuri.
A total of 43 International models, 23 Indian models, and 33 Indian models with International backgrounds walked on the runway showcasing the beauty and craftsmanship of Indian culture. The embroidery and craftsmanship associated with Indian culture made everyone amazed by its beauty.
Dior, the multinational luxury fashion house founded by Christian Dior, is controlled and chaired by Bernard Arnault. Apart from their luxurious clothes and footwear, they also sell cosmetics, fashion accessories, jewelry, perfume, watches, wines, etc.
It had been 77 years of the company’s foundation. In 1947, the fashion house launched its first fashion collection for spring-summer. The company began its expansion to other parts of the world at the end of 1949. Their first expansion began with a Christian Dior boutique in New York. The following years were a boost to the business of the luxury fashion brand.
In 1957, the death of the founder Christian Dior shook the fashion industry tremendously. The general manager of the company almost decided to shut down the business worldwide but the Maison Dior was too important for the financial stability of the industry. In the same year, the 21 years old, Yves Saint-Laurent was promoted to Artistic Director of the company to bring back the stability of the business.
After providing a few services as an Artistic Director, Laurent was replaced by Marc Bohan in late 1960. Under his assistance, the company has launched several fashion collections and accessories to strengthen the brand. But, in 1978, all the assets of the company were purchased by the Willot Group after the company got bankrupt.
Again in 1980, when the Willot group went into bankruptcy, Bernard Arnault with his investment group purchased the company in 1984. Currently, the brand is controlled and chaired by him.
