Dior, the multinational luxury fashion house founded by Christian Dior, is controlled and chaired by Bernard Arnault. Apart from their luxurious clothes and footwear, they also sell cosmetics, fashion accessories, jewelry, perfume, watches, wines, etc.
It had been 77 years of the company’s foundation. In 1947, the fashion house launched its first fashion collection for spring-summer. The company began its expansion to other parts of the world at the end of 1949. Their first expansion began with a Christian Dior boutique in New York. The following years were a boost to the business of the luxury fashion brand.
In 1957, the death of the founder Christian Dior shook the fashion industry tremendously. The general manager of the company almost decided to shut down the business worldwide but the Maison Dior was too important for the financial stability of the industry. In the same year, the 21 years old, Yves Saint-Laurent was promoted to Artistic Director of the company to bring back the stability of the business.
After providing a few services as an Artistic Director, Laurent was replaced by Marc Bohan in late 1960. Under his assistance, the company has launched several fashion collections and accessories to strengthen the brand. But, in 1978, all the assets of the company were purchased by the Willot Group after the company got bankrupt.
Again in 1980, when the Willot group went into bankruptcy, Bernard Arnault with his investment group purchased the company in 1984. Currently, the brand is controlled and chaired by him.
