Several Indian Star Players will receive much-needed respite from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during the impending India tour to Ireland in 2023. According to sources, in light of a busy schedule ahead, team India’s T20I captain Hardik Pandya and other players may receive a break for the Ireland T20I series.
A three-game T20I series between Ireland and India will be conducted at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground starting on August 18 as part of India’s 2023 visit to Ireland. The final game of the tour will take place on August 23, while the second game of the IND vs. IRE T20I leg will take place on August 20.
The BCCI is expected to rest a few Indian players from the IND versus IRE series following the major events scheduled in the near future. Given his importance to India’s white-ball team, the workload of T20I captain Hardik Pandya would be vital. The Indian cricket board may also decide to rest opener Shubman Gill, who is now a three-format player for India, in addition to Hardik Pandya.
After the India vs. West Indies white-ball series, according to sources close to the BCCI, a decision would be made on Hardik Pandya’s participation in the IND vs. IRE T20I series after discussing it with him. Notably, the Indian players would have just three days to travel to Dublin for the IND versus IRE T20I series once the India tour of the West Indies 2023 concludes. The team’s first match of the tour to Ireland is on August 18, and India’s final match of the West Indies leg is on August 13. Legends like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli won’t be available for Team India’s T20I squad in Ireland.
