As the Sri Lankan tour approaches, there have been certain announcements by the BCCI committee. In recent developments, they have announced the Indian squad for the series. There is also conjecture that Rohit Sharma will be available for the ODI series. However, there is no assurance regarding the news. It is also being claimed that Kohli and Bumrah will not be part of the Lankan ODI squad.
On the other hand, there has been a statement by the BCCI that there will be specific anomalies in the test rule. They said that every test player will have to play at least one domestic game. However, there will be exceptions for Virat, Rohit and Jusprit. They can determine on their own whether they will be available to play or not.

Previously, Rohit and Kohli have both declared their retirement from the T20 format. They have their next target set on the champion trophy and the test championship. Both of these tournaments will be played next year. However, there are only very limited ODIs until then. So it is interesting to see how the Indian team will prepare for the Champions Trophy.
All of these developments have been made by the committee in preparation for the upcoming test series. Those are two test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. They will be played after the Duleep trophy. So, BCCI President Jay Shah has announced that test players will have to play at least one match in the domestic circuit. There will also be no zonal selection committee. There will only be a national selection committee for the Duleep trophy.
Regarding the appointment of Gambhir, Dale Steyn has conveyed his happiness. He said that he had played against Gambhir. He contended that Gambhir was one of the batsmen who would come back at him during the matches. He further added that Gambhir has an aggressive nature. So, it will be great for the Indian team to have him in the dressing room.
Additionally, there will also be eyes on the coaching staff. It is because Gambhir has already suggested some names. Also, some names have been rejected already.
