For fans, the creators of Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 have set a release date. It won’t be possible to get the much awaited Hrithik Roshan-starring sequel to the successful franchise until 2025. According to a recent report from Hindustan Times, Jr. NTR would be making his Bollywood debut as an adversary in the film, which debuts on the weekend of Independence Day.
Taran Adarsh, a film trade expert, tweeted on X, “#BreakingNews. War 2 will be released on the weekend of Independence Day in 2025, according to YRF. Release date for #War2, the sixth movie in the #YRFSpyUniverse, has been announced. On August 14, 2025, be ready for mayhem at the box office.
The creators reportedly want to add more agents to the spy realm. Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt are reportedly in negotiations for their espionage universe, according to a prior source. It’s thought that Alia has committed to a YRF female-led picture. According to a source, “YRF has been following a strategy that may result in her making a cameo.” A few characters from their other movie in the same universe Salman Khan in Pathaan, and Shah Rukh Khan in Tiger 3 are shown in a peek.
The YRF spy universe debuted in the 2012 movie Ek Tha Tiger and has since expanded with films such as War (2019) and Pathaan (2023), starring Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Shah Rukh Khan as agents. Tiger Vs. Pathaan and War 2 are the upcoming films in the series.
Tiger Shroff played Saurabh, a RAW agent who turned mole, in the Siddharth Anand-directed prequel, which starred Hrithik Roshan as a rogue agent named Kabir. The movie was a huge hit at the box office and starred Vaani Kapoor as well.
